Red Sonja – Dynamite Comics

My Red Sonja was entirely made possible by Kalloused Hands Chainmail, who provided the beautiful scale mail bikini! Without his help I can say without a doubt that I never would have been able to do this character.

Construction Notes:

While the scale mail was made by Kal, I did the rest of the costume using bits and pieces of materials I already had on hand. The leg armor was quickly made with EVA foam and the belts were done with various fabrics, and leather I had on hand. The cape is essentially just a solid yard of faux fur with a red cotton lining and a strap around my neck. The axe was made in one 9 hour sitting the night before the shoot using insulation foam, eva foam, Worbla, resin spikes, and a wooden rod. I knew that if I didn’t make it that night, I would never do it, so I sucked it up and pulled an all-nighter!
